About us

Our Mission

We believe political hope and bold ideas are needed more than ever. In the face of climate collapse, wars of extermination and social disruptions we must dare to imagine just and joyful futures. But not only to meditate upon them. We need to act.

Radio Utopistan bridges the gap between journalism, collaborative art, and education to open new spaces for societal utopias. Our mission is to help you envision those futures and provide the sustainable momentum needed to build them.

From Vision to Action

Utopian ideas drive us as humans, they drive humankind and humanity. And Radio Utopistan wants to find out what drives those visionary people. It was the belief that we could fly, conquer disease or live in permanent peace that gave women and men the courage to take risks, to step out, to try things and also to fail.

Education as a Gift

Utopian ideas drive us as humans, they drive humankind and humanity. And Radio Utopistan wants to find out what drives those visionary people. It was the belief that we could fly, conquer disease or live in permanent peace that gave women and men the courage to take risks, to step out, to try things and also to fail.

Isn’t this the purpose of education,
to learn the nature of your own gifts and how to use them for good in the world?”

So far, our focus lies at the intersection of the natural world and social justice, with a focus on Palestine and Ecuador. Advocating for a world where solidarity and reciprocity outweigh competition.

Independence & Community

In an increasingly authoritarian world, independent funding for democracy and education is vital. Currently, Radio Utopistan is sustained by public grants, private donations, and proceeds from our workshops. However, the largest share of our work is still carried by unpaid labor. We are working to change this, as we believe true sustainability requires reciprocity – ensuring that the energy and talents shared with us are fairly valued and compensated.

We are deeply grateful to every ‘Utopista’ who helps us bridge this gap: whether by donating, sharing your skills, or attending our events. Thank you for making this vision a reality.

Our Team

Radio Utopistan is a fluid collective. Depending on the project or initiative, different people bring their expertise and passion to the table, contributing to varying degrees to make our visions a reality.
